Tips to Improve your Drawing Skills

In this post I am going to give you tips to improve your drawing. I assure you these definitely work. When followed them, you will gradually see improvement in your artwork.

Below are 5 tips that will help you enhance your drawing and get it to a whole new level :)

1. Paper

THE TYPE OF PAPER YOU USE MATTERS A LOT. IT CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE OUTCOME OF YOUR ARTWORK.

If you are still using printer paper ( very thin, easily bent ) then I recommend you to stop using it. Printer paper is normally of 80 gsm (weight)  It is too light and thin that it cannot hold your colour medium be it watercolour, colour/graphite pencils etc.

I recommend paper with 140 gsm for all art medium. Some Brands which I like to use - Sundaram, Strathmore

2. Reference

As beginners we draw from a tutorial, reference images etc. But what we tend to do is focus on our own drawing. We rarely fully observe the reference photo which we are supposed to draw like.

The point here is, LOOK CAREFULLY AT YOUR REFERENCE PHOTO IN EACH STEP.
Ask yourself - Did I miss out anything? Is it a straight or a curve line?  If curved where does it bend?

And you will be able to draw much similarly like an artist.

3. Highlights and shadows

In every drawing, highlights, shading and shadows are necessary for it to look real. They give the subject shape and form.

When light hits an object it forms highlights where it directly touches the object. The areas that are hidden from the light are called shadows.

If you want a realistic drawing, you need to keep in mind to ADD THE HIGHLIGHTS AND SHADOWS WHEVER NECESSARY.

4. Time Taken

Personally, I found out that the more time I take to complete a drawing, the more it becomes realistic.

Adding more layers helps the drawing to come intact. So always remember to spend more time on it.

DO NOT RUSH. Be patient and you'll see the outcome :)

5. Practice!

There is no better tip to improve in your drawing skills other than practice.
As the saying goes " PRACTICE MAKES MAN PERFECT " applies to drawing too.

The more you practice, the better you get. So draw daily, even if its a little bit BUT draw!!

So with this, you have your 5 tips that will definitely help you improve your Drawing Skills.

6 Genius Study Tips You Need To Try

In this blog I'm going to give you  6 genius study tips you need to know and try. I have personally tried them and it works wonderfully! I'll try to explain every tip briefly so that you can understand well. So without further ado, lets start.

#1 Create a Study Plan

Before we actually start studying, you definitely need a plan. By making a study plan you remain organised and get things done.
For example - I decide to study daily at least 2 hours, in it I'll give 1 hour time to my daily assignments.

So my tip no. 1 is to create a study plan to follow daily.

#2 Find a good quite place to study

While studying, focus is very important so that you can learn and remember things. For focus you need to concentrate in your lessons, a quite place helps you achieve this. Find a place in your house where there are least no. of distractions.
You can get creative and decorate it too!

#3 Random Burst of Motivation

Have you ever got this feeling where you want to do something instead of sitting idle? Well, this feeling can be called as 'Motivation'.

Whenever you get the motivation to do something, get the most out of it. Studying during this time is most efficient. Try this and tell me in the comments if it works :)

#4  Assignment completion
In this Covid 19 pandemic many of us have online schools. Teachers give us assignments/home works to complete. So whenever these assignments are posted, try to complete them in 2-3 days max.
If you complete it on the day itself its excellent!

So what do we achieve by doing this?
  • We remain updated
  • Get in the good sides of our teacher
  • Don't have to worry about dues

#5  Nap before you study
Resting before studying or doing any activity is handy. How? When we sleep our brain gets rest and so it powers up to do any activity. Napping before studying helps us to extract that information right outta that textbook.
So the next time you plan on doing a energetic activity, nap a little ;)

#6 Put your phone far, far away
Oh boy.. Everyone knows this tip, BUT never uses it(lol). If you want good grades then you have to do it! We can control 1 hour without phone now, cant we?

Remove any distractions that may come in your way. Think it this way, after studying you can do whatever you want, sometimes even reward yourself.

Summary-
1. Create a study plan
2.  Find a good quite place to study
3. Random burst of motivation
4. Assignment completion
5. Nap before you study
6. Put your phone far, far away.

So with this you have your 6 study tips that will surely help you this year. Good luck!
